Phil and JR are at the final song of their album tracking towards guitar, bass, and vocals. Gopal is set to go into studio in Montreal beginning sometime in May or early June to record our singles that consists of “Paranoid in Paradise” – “Believers & Deceivers” – “Soundtrack for Revolution” and possibly “One Last Chance” if time and budget permits. From this point forward all tracking will be finalized and sent off to our engineer, mixer, co-producer Dean Hadjichristou (Epitaph / Parkway Drive / Protest the Hero) who currently resides on the island of Cypress after making the move from Ottawa, On Canada.

IN CASE YOU MISSED THE UPDATE 2024-04-16

May is approaching soon and so is our first of two shows only this currently this year. You can catch us live in Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, Que (Trois – Rivieres suburb) on Sat, May 11th. If you miss that show then you can attend our biggest show of the year in the town of Trois – Rivieres, Que at the “Amphitheater Cogeco” Fri. Dec. 6th. performing with The Shirley’s. More info will be provided near the date. 2025 will possibly be our biggest year for Reset ever with the release of our new album and multiple radio singles and videos in the works. Currently, Reset albums and merch are to be supported under our own independent label “Indy Rekordz” (indyrecords.ca) for the forseeable future so in a sense we will market “direct-to-consumer” since we own and operate the label. Yes, its a difficult venture to undertake but it does allow Reset to retain brand property and rights to our music distro in any form in comparison to hunting for a legacy label. Reset has always be a skate punk artist with independent values and a “DIY” attitude towards creating, performing, and marketing our brand music on our own legitimate terms. Although, this will not stop Reset from pursuing radio single(s) success through independent rock radio stations in 2025 along with further support touring.

Aside from shows, we are finally in process of recording pre-prod towards our last song to be added to our upcoming album in 2024. We’ve skimmed the list down to 10 tracks – 11 including a possible cover song by the Beatles entitled “Help” whom most everyone already knows. It’s a fan favorite and the addition of it is simply for the fun of it. My hat goes off to Phil for recording such a stellar rendition of this it.

HISTORY

1993

Reset (Roach) in the beginning was formed in 1993 by Pierre Bouvier and Chuck Comeau. also now known as the lead singer and percussionist of current global pop-rock artist “Simple Plan”. When they began their journey into music they were 13 years old at the time.

1995

In 1995 the original band members were formed with Pierre Bouvier (vocals), Chuck Comeau (drums), Philippe Jolicoeur (guitar), and Jean-Sébastien Boileau (bass). The original name for the band was called Roach, but as another Canadian band was using this name. Chuck was quoted as saying in discouragement “We have to reset our name now” and thus to simplify the change the name “Reset” was born as to represent a new start and direction.

1997

In 1997 Reset begins recording on their first full-length punk rock album entitled “No Worries” recorded and produced by Canadian producer “Rob Shearer” from the legendary “Le Studio Morin-Heights” on the outskirts of Montreal, Quebec Canada that has recorded world-renowned artist such as “Rush” and “April Wine” just to name a few.

In 1998, the band lineup changed. Bouvier took Boileau’s place in playing bass and a new member, Adrian White from Vancouver, replaced Comeau as drummer after a conflict between Bouvier and Comeau

1999

In 1999, the band released No Limits, which was co-written by Adrian White. This album was recorded in VancouverBritish Columbia, and was produced by Canadian record producer, engineer and mixer, Greg Reely who has worked with such as artists as Sarah McLachlanFront Line AssemblyFear FactoryMachine HeadColdplayThe Tea PartySpirit of the West and others.. Three video clips were filmed for No Limits: “Pollution”, “Pressure”, and “My Dream and I”. Shortly after the filming of “Pressure”, Bouvier left Reset to reacquaint with Chuck Comeau and officially form Simple Plan.

2000

In the year 2000, starting off the new millennia, David Desrosiers replaced Pierre Bouvier, but only stayed with the band for six months, being recruited by Simple Plan members to fill their bass spot and marking an abrupt circumstance of uncertainty towards the continuation of the “Reset” name. The band and music remains in hiatus for the next 3 years forward.

2003

Phil Jolicoeur the lead guitarist launches his own record label “Indy Rekordz”. He decides to continue on forwards, carrying the torch and the Reset name while helming the front man duties on vocals. He records the band’s 3rd album “Radioactive” produced, performed, mixed, and mastered from his own recording studio released under the new label. “Choke” and “Kyoto” are the singles and the new video clips for that album. On “Kyoto”, Reset speaks about Kyoto Protocol.

2008

In March 2008, they released their fourth album No Intensity and Phil recruits Claude Plamondon on bass and Martin Gendreau on percussion. This album is similar to their first album No Worries, with anti-government songs like “Corrupted To The Bone”, “Redemption” and “Papillon”. The latter song is based on the book Papillon by Henri Charrière, an autobiography relating Charrière’s numerous imprisonments and escapes from French penal colonies. The single for this album is the song ‘No Intensity’. The album is produced by Rod Shearer (Le Studio Morin-Heights), who also produced No Worries and the band’s demo CD Concerned.

2009

In March 2009, the band performed a special show for the first time with their original line-up for Musique Plus’s (French Much Music) punk rock show 1-2-3 Punk! 10th anniversary. They played with GrimSkunkThe Sainte CatherinesVulgaires MachinsThe Planet Smashers and Subb.

2012

Jumping forward 3 years, the year 2012 has another line-up change with Matt Kapuszczak (lead guitar) (Mute), Justin Brandreth (bass) and the return of Adrian White on percussions to help release Reset’s 4th studio album mixed and mastered by Canadian producer Luc Tellier (Simple Plan, David Usher, Marie-Mai, Jasen Ridge) entitled “The Antidote”.

Reset live 2012

2014 – 2015

In both 2014 – 2015 Reset performed live at Amnesia RockFest in Montebello, Quebec Canada along side various other major label artists. The year 2014 once again featured the original 1995 line-up and David Desrosiers (Reset / Simple Plan) replaced JS Boileau for 2015 set performed on the Budweiser stage during the same time as Megadeth performed on the main stage. This fact, has remained to be a fun highlighted story of Reset’s live career.

Reset 2021

2023 – 2024

2023 introduces long-time friend of Phil Jolicoeur and recording artist JR (Jasen Ridge) on lead guitar and vocals. Most notably, they were featured on a compilation by Volcom / Stone Records entitled “The Early Poems Of” with heavy hitters such as Strung Out, Pennywise, CKY, The Line, and much more… In his later years and up to the current time, JR has extended his song writing career path towards Alternative Country Rock and accomplished a global radio hit in 2016 with his single “Deep Water” co-produced and performed in studio with Canadian engineer, mixer, producer Luc Tellier that also recorded Reset’s 2013 album “The Antidote”. He also charted the top 10 most downloaded active indies along side Canadian blues artist Colin James and rock / emo sensations Silverstein, placing #9 on the list.

2024 ushers in Reset’s 7th studio album and most anticipated songs of their collective rock careers. They have aligned their new album with engineer, mixer, producer Dean Hadjichristou (Epitaph Records, Parkway Drive, Protest the Hero) who has worked in collaboration with producers such as Josh Wilbur (Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb of God). Reset is poised to hit rock radio loaded with 2 singles off the upcoming 2025 album entitled “Paranoid in Paradise” respectively marking a long-awaited triumph in their 30 year rock career.
